No.42421 was at Saltley from August 1960 until transferred to Stafford in June 1964, and was withdrawn there two months later. It is seen here passing Saltley Sidings signalbox in 1962 with a transfer freight working. The cooling towers and chimneys of Nechells power station are visible in the right background.

There were half a dozen of these at Saltley - side window cab type - and they worked ECS, passenger along the Evesham and Nuneaton lines and duties like this one. They were quite popular locos.
