A Fowler 2-6-4T which for five years carried a name. In 1928 HRH Prince of Wales (later King Edward VIII) visited Derby Works and drove No 2313 in the yard. Knowing that this would be happening, the engine had the name’The Prince’ painted in large gold letters on the tank sides above LMS. It remained thus in normal service until 1933 when it received the next full repaint.
It was on Carlisle Citadel station pilot duties on12th July 1962. Finally withdrawn November 1963.
