Class J69/2 No 68490 had just been withdrawn from service at Stratford in June 1958.
There were just nine J69/2s, all being rebuilds of J67/1s with increased boiler pressure and larger fireboxes.
No 68490 built 1890 as J67/1; rebuilt by BR 1950; w/d May 1958.
