GWR 2883 class 2-8-0 No 3837 has just passed the closed station at West Wycombe on the GW & GC Joint line with an up goods comprised mostly of loaded coal wagons on September 26, 1964. High Wycombe British Road Services depot occupies the site of the former goods yard on the left.
The loco clearly displays a 86 shedplate but you cannot make out the suffix (it will be either A or B). It was a Ebbw Junction 86B (the code changed from 86A in September 1963) engine from 1959 until withdrawl in July 1965 except for a short period at 88A Cardiff East Docks from May to October 1964, therefore at the time of this photo,so it looks as if it never received the correct shed plate.
