60828 1950s King's Cross

60828 1950s King's Cross

This vantage point at King's Cross Station give an excellent view of the long closed and demolished platforms on the right that served the 'Metropolitan Widened Lines'. The steep downward gradient is clearly illustrated. In the foreground, ex-LNER Gresley 'V2' 2-6-2 No. 60828 is waiting to depart. York allocated 60828 was built at Darlington in March 1938 as LNER No. 4799 and was withdrawn in Oct. 1965.
