4774 1938 New Southgate

LNER class V2 2-6-2 No V2 2-6-2 No 4774 approaches New Southgate with a Leeds to Kings Cross express in 1938.
Peter Kerslake says "A beautifully turned out V2 in its fully lined L.N.E.R. livery runs down through New Southgate towards Kings Cross at the head of ten Gresley coaches in 1938.
The following year would bring a dramatic change to everything and for the next five years the "V2's" would be worked day and night on heavily overloaded passenger duties together and were the L.N.E.R.'s mainstay for essential fast freight duties earning them the title of "the engines that won the war".
