With a southbound freight passing the DMU depot. A 'Pulverite' wagon from the Standard Pulverised Fuel Co leads the train. This was built by Charles Roberts in 1937 and worked from Brancepath Colliery to an unknown industrial customer. In the process pulverised coal is entrained into a stream of air and "flash burned", because the particles are very small, so have a very high surface area to volume ratio, giving lots of exposure to oxygen, it burns very efficiently and very quickly.

Note the quality of the trackwork in the yard
