60914 1955 Stoke Tunnel

60914 1955 Stoke Tunnel

A long term Kings Cross resident, V2 2-6-2 No 60914 was regularly used on northbound expresses from the terminus. In this photograph taken in 1955 the engine is leaving Stoke tunnel with one such train. At this time the original monobloc cylinder arrangement was still in place but three years later the engine was fitted with separate cylinders. Built in June 1940 as No 4885, withdrawal came fairly early, in September 1962.
