Ex-LNER Gresley 'V2' class 2-6-2 No. 60809 'The Snapper, the East Yorkshire Regiment, the Duke of York's Own'. Built at Darlington in August 1937 as LNER No. 4780 and withdrawn in July 1964. One hundred and eight four 'V2s' were built but only eight received names. That of 60809, seen here at York MPD in May 1951, sure takes some typing out but even this is beaten by 60835 - look it up!
