A 1960s view in the very neat and tidy workshops at York MPD sees 'V2' 60963, one of only two 'V2s' fitted with a double blastpipe in Feb. 1960. A further six were so modified in 1961 and although the fitting was very successful in terms of power and economy, the impending demise of steam caused the project not to be continued. 60963 has a WD for company but that particular loco will remain unmodified! As for the diesels...!
