60919 1966-07-03 Eastleigh

A wasted journey!
60919 was the booked engine for LCGB’s “The Green Arrow” railtour from Waterloo to Bournemouth. Having come down specially from Dundee to Basingstoke on 30 June, it ran light engine to Nine Elms on July 2. The loco failed to work the train and was replaced by 34002. 60919 then ran light to Eastleigh behind the special, to work the return leg but it was decided not to use the loco. 60919 returned back home on July 6 working the 15.55 Southampton – Water Orton banana train. Varying reports of fractured frame and hot axlebox are given as the reason for non usage.
