September 1955 is the date of this excellent portrait of Gresley V2 No. 60948 at the south end of York Station. The 50s period atmosphere is endorsed by the typical schoolboy 'spotter', garbed in his school cap and gabardine coat. 60948 was built at Darlington in June 1942 as LNER No. 3650 and withdrawn in Sept. 1963
