York North Yard seems for the most part to have escaped the attentions of photographers. They doubtless concentrated their time and film on the Station and MPD!
Here is ex-LNER Gresley 'V2' 2-6-2 No. 60831 making a surefooted departure with an up van freight in November 1963. It is passing York's large municipal water works, seen on the right. 60831 was built at Darlington in May 1938 as LNER No. 4802 and was withdrawn in Dec. 1966.
