60963 1964-04-18 Marylebone

In the background 'Flying Scotsman' is visiting Maylebone station on Saturday 18th April 1964 with an SLS railtour. However, the photographer has turned his attention to ex-LNER Gresley 'V2' 2-6-2 No. 60963 one of just two 'V2s' to be fitted with double chimneys in June 1959. 60963 had just worked a van train from Nottingham Victoria, departing 23 minutes before 4472. This engine seems to have lost its (50A York) shed plate! 60963 was built at Darlington in January 1943 as LNER No. 3675 and was withdrawn in June 1965.
