Appropriately for this 1960s photograph taken inside the workshops at York MPD, ex-LNER Gresley 'V2' No. 60847 'St. Peter's School York A.D.627' is getting some quite extensive attention to its cylinder and motion. Larger depots like York were well-equipped for such work and locomotives could be returned to traffic promptly without recourse to visiting Darlington or Doncaster. 60847 was built at Darlington in Mar. 1939 as LNER No. 4818 and was withdrawn in Aug. 1965.
