Another first class portrait from Stephen Barrett's remarkable archive of York's railway heritage. This time we feature 60922, a Gresley 'V2' in sparkling ex-works condition seen in 1959. The original 'monobloc' cast cylinders did not require prominent external smokebox steam pipes but if repair or replacement of this feature was required, it was a much more expensive procedure than seperately cast cylinders that were applied to many class members.
