82034 1961-09-09 Minffordd

BR Standard Class 3MT 2-6-2T No 82034 at Minfford with the 11.30am Pwlheli to Barmouth train on September 9, 1961.
Peter Kerslake says "82034 is climbing the 1 in 50 gradient up to Minffordd station, with Minffordd quarry in the background. This provided large amounts of granite ballast for the line, the connection between the quarry and the main line being by way of a siding near Minffordd station.
Minffordd station was opened by the Cambrian Railways in 1873 and provided an interchange with the Festiniog Railway, the main line eastwards dropping down a gradient of 1 in 65 at its steepest down to Penrhyndeudraeth, the next station to the east and towards Barmouth."
