Built as No. 11168 and allocated from new in June 1957 to Norwich Thorpe, Hunslet 0-6-0 diesel mechanical shunter No. D2565 was transferred to Springs Branch in February 1966 along with the others pictured here, Nos. D2560. D2557, D2565, D2562 and D2568. They were offered for sale to industry and surplus classmates were brought to Wigan, others being programmed for movement even from their Scottish sheds. However the vast majority went for scrap so the moves from Scotland were largely cancelled. Only one, No. D2554, survived to gain a TOPS number, No. 05001 on the Isle of Wight.
