Mike Cole says "I don't think that is West Weybridge as originally captioned (Byfleet and New Haw), I travelled daily to school from there in the 60s.
West Weybridge is built on the sides of an embankmemt just after the Byfleet junction climb. It could be West Byfleet, as the down slow separated for the island platform". Now confirmed as West Byfleet.


Pioneer SR Diesel on the Down 'Royal Wessex' express at West Byfleet
View eastward, towards London. The 4.30pm Waterloo - Bournemouth/Weymouth 'Royal Wessex' is for a while being hauled by the first (No. 10201) of the three pioneer Diesels designed by Bulleid for the SR and built at Ashford Works in 1950-54. From 4/55 they were transferred to the LMR and became the basis of the later English-Electric Type 4 1-Co-Co-1 BR Class 40's.
The stock is a very clean set of Mk 1s which were allocated to this service as from June 1951
