Peter Kerslake says "Entering service in March of 1961 Deltic D9002 was named "The King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry" in a ceremony at York in April of 1963 whilst allocated to Gateshead Motive Power Depot where it remained until a transfer to York in May of 1979.
The Deltic is about to depart from Kings Cross to head northward on what is a late afternoon working.
Withdrawn whilst still based at York in early January of 1982 it was one of the last four Deltics still in service."
