D9015 1960s York

D9015 1960s York

Peter Kerslake says "Deltic D 9015 storms through York on the down through road with the "Flying Scotsman", bound for across the border to Edinburgh Waverley from Kings Cross with the local enthusiasts out in force to wonder at the sight and sound of a Deltic in full cry.
Resplendent in the attractive two tone green livery, complete with her white cabs "Tuyar" entered traffic in October of 1961 and going to London's Finsbury Park Depot where she remained until a move to here at York two years later.
"Tulyar's" driver has opened up the throttles as they clear York station, bringing into play his locomotive's twin power plants, each delveloping 1650 brake horse power with eighteen cylinders apiece and capable of pushing "Tulyar" to ninety miles an hour, the locomotive being one of the last four Deltics to survive in service until January of 1982."
