GWR 14XX class 0-4-2T No 1451 at Hemyock with the 1.42pm branch train from Tiverton Junction on August 8, 1962.
Peter Kerslake says "It was the Unigate dairy at Hemyock at the end of the branch line from Tiverton Junction to Uffculme and Hemyock that kept 1451 and its fellows busy , with United Dairies taking over the original Culm Valley dairy in 1916 , the passenger station here at Hemyock being enlarged in 1932 with further expansion of the dairy.
This photograph shows 1451 working an empty milk tank wagon back to Hemyock following its having been dropped off at Tiverton Junction from a returning rake of empties which had been despatched to the Capital the previous day .
Following its services here on the branch 1451 went down to Cornwall's St Blazey depot in October of 1963 then being moved to Gloucester Horton Road just a month later from where it worked the Stroud and Sharpness branches, destined to be its last duties."
