Ex-North Eastern Railway W.Worsdell 'R' (LNER 'D20/2') class 4-4-0 No. 62349. Built at Gateshead in December 1899 as NER No. 2020 and withdrawn in October 1957.

Middlesborough in the northernmost reaches of Yorkshire was not on the beaten track for most railway photographers. Fortunately local cameramen were on hand to record scenes like this in July 1954 at the MPD. Note the raised running plate over the driving wheels on the 'one-off' Thompson 'D20/2' rebuild of 62349. A Gresley/Raven 'A8' No. 69876 is seen behind.
