62372 1955-09 Neville Hill MPD

62372 1955-09 Neville Hill MPD

The old wooden coaling stage at Leeds Neville Hill MPD was retained 'just in case' long after the adjacent (out of view to the left) and modern, concrete tower coaler had been built. Appropriately at this former NER depot, a classic NER design of Wilson Worsdell an 'R' class (LNER 'D20') 4-4-0 No. 62372 makes a lovely portrait in September 1955. Apart from a more modern smokebox door, it is largely in as-built condition. 62372 was built at Gateshead in October 1906 and withdrawn in Nov. 1956.
