The ex-North Eastern Railway Worsdell 'R' (LNER 'D20') class 4-4-0s were undoubtedly one of the finest of this type to grace Britain's railways. By the mid-1950s they had all been relegated to secondary duties. Nonetheless they were still performing on many principal routes. 62396 has just arrived at an immaculate Selby station from Leeds and will shortly depart with the 17:47 for Bridlington. A 'G5' 0-4-4 tank is seen with its train on the equally tidy opposite platform.
