SR N 2-6-0 No 31840 with a train working up to Exeter Central train leaving Exeter St.Davids on 2 June 1963.

Robert Waterman says " Headcode says ex-Barnstaple or Ilfracombe.
The centre coach is a Bulleid SO from a Bournemouth line 6 car dining set. The last coach is a BSK/O Semi Open Brake Second also from a Bournemouth line 6 car dining set. These were being somewhat disbanded at this time and can be identified easily as the coach body sides are extended over the sole bars (plus 10 1/4" fan lights rather than 15" as on the first coach). Still a bit unusual in that there is no first class accommodation in the train - the brake would be expected to be one of the Bulleid BCKs which looked similar but without the extended body sides."
