90478 1958-09-27 Hull Springhead
The Riddles 'WD' 2-8-0s could be seen on virtually any type of freight duties, with very occasional calls to passenger working, throughout Great Britain. In September 1958, 90478 is shunting the yard at Springhead in Hull, the traditional home of the ill-fated Hull & Barnsley Railway. The neatly uniformed yardman on the left can be seen brandishing his 'badge of office' - the shunter's pole! 90478 was built by Vulcan Foundry in June 1944 as WD No. 78679 and was withdrawn in Sept. 1967.
