On a distinctly murky York day in the late 1970s, Class 55 No. 55002 'The King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry', is heading south past the freight yard at Dringhouses. The view is from St. Helens Road Bridge. This view is now radically changed with Dringhouses Yard having been redeveloped to become a high quality housing estate. 55002 was built by English Electric Vulcan Foundry in Ma. 1961 as BR No. D9002 and was withdrawn in Jan. 1982.
