A contrast in Class J88 chimneys at Dunfermline circa 1957. The ugly stovepipe on No 68345 was fabricated in 1956 at a local colliery where the locomotive had been working in a hired capacity, following an accident to its original NBR style chimney (as shown by sibling No 68346). Despite a subsequent visit to Cowlairs works, the stovepipe remained in place up to its withdrawal as the last remaining J88 in December 1962.
