During the 1950s Thornton Junction shed was responsible for all the NBR J88 0-6-0 workings in Fife and here we see one of the class on a trip working to the Haig bonded warehouse sidings at Markinch sometime in 1956. The sidings were accessed from the Leslie branch. No. 68323 was one of the first batch of four to appear in December 1904; 1956 would prove to be its last year of service when it was withdrawn during October.
