76026 1967 Ringwood
Alan Goodwin says "Working from Eastleigh. Alan Goodwin says I am fairly certain that the photo was taken from the A31 looking west - 76026 is about to pass the post that carried the distant signal for Ringwood. 76026 is probably working what would have been the daily 08.30 freight from Poole. The photo was possibly taken on the 6th or 7th July 1967. I have checked Old Maps and it all fits perfectly, it is Holly Grove Farm in the distance with new poultry houses and the under bridge was for a culvert."
And Peter Russell says "Confirm this was taken from beside Ashley Bridge carrying A31 over the railway. Looking NW to Hollygrove Farm occupation crossing (beside white building in distance). Signal is/was Ringwood Up Distant. Summer 1967 just before the final goods services to Ringwood from Poole, and the line being cut back to West Moors army oil depot. Down line had been lifted back to Broadstone during 1967. Culvert bridge visible behind the brake van."
