Ex-Midland Railway Johnson '2P' class 4-4-0 No. 40405 (pilot). Built by Sharp, Stewart & Co. of Glasgow in April 1892 as MR No. 2185 and withdrawn in March 1955. LMS designed Ivatt '2MT' class 2-6-2 Tank No. 41235 (train). Built at Crewe in August 1949 and withdrawn in November 1962.
A very steamy January 1954 departure fom Altrincham in Cheshire has a rather unusual (?) combo of 40405 piloting 41235. Virtually everything has changed in the intervening years - except the Kit-Kat wrapper design!
