Ex-MR 2P No 416 rests at Nottingham shed in 1932. Built 1892 and heavily rebuilt in the 1920s it still has bogie brakes, it was withdrawn as BR No 40416 in May 1959.
This is the west end of Nottingham Midland shed.
The photographer is standing on the northern coal ramp. Above the coal wagon standing at the end of the southern coal ramp can be seen the chimneys of the terraced houses in “The Meadows”.
