9298 1937-08-03 Eastfield MPD

Ex-North British Railway Reid 'K' (LNER 'D34') class 4-4-0 No. 9298 'Glen Sheil'. Built at Cowlairs in May 1917 as NBR No. 298 and withdrawn in June 1961 as BR No. 62479.

A pleasing portrait if somewhat grubby 'Glen Sheil' at Glasgow's Eastfield MPD in August 1937. Glen Shiel (note the correct spelling!) is in the Northwest Highlands of Scotland. The Battle of Glen Shiel took place in June 1719 during Jacobite Rising. British troops were victorious and casualties were relatively low.
