40 1909-11 Old Oak Common

The pioneer GWR Star class 4-6-0 No 40 North Star when first running as a 4-6-0 in November 1909.

Peter Kerslake says "Built in April 1906 and running as a 4-4-2 until November 1909 when it was converted to a 4-6-0, No. 40 became North Star in September 1906, and was renumbered as 4000 in December 1912. It was rebuilt as a Castle in November 1929.

Loaded 'Loco' coal wagons are ready for use at the coaling plant, and North Star has its brass worksplate below the name plate."
