4021 1934c Bristol Temple Meads

GWR Star 4-6-0 No 4021 'British Monarch' at Bath Road Loco. It was there for a short while in 1933/34 but went to Shrewsbury after.

It was renamed 'British Monarch' in November 1927, the 'The' was removed as it was felt it made the name too specific.
In the background to the right of the tender the end of the new Platform 4 can be seen with a new colour light signal gantry, however a semaphore can also be seen suggesting the work is still on going, it being completed in 1935.The engine is coupled to an Intermediate tender.
