LSWR M7 class 0-4-4T No 30674 still with Southern on its tank around 1950.
It is a Down train nearly at the summit of ‘The Alps’ approaching Medstead & Four Marks station on the Mid-Hants line.

However, there is anomaly with the photo – the headcode carried was correct for the line but for push-pull trains. This train however is not push-pull stock being ex-LSWR non-corridor 56’ 3-lav set.

The photographer was Edward (E.C.) Griffith who lived locally at Farnham. He took a number of excellent photos in the late 1940s/early 50s, usually within about 15 miles of his home.
