NER 418 1890s is it Darlington

North Eastern Railway T.W.Worsdell 'A' (LNER 'F8') class 2-4-2 Tank No. 418. Built at Gateshead in December 1889 and withdrawn in November 1929 as LNER No. 418.

This lovely portrait appears to be an 'official' NER photograph, probably taken at Darlington. Sixty F8s were built between 1886 and 1892, in six batches, the last two under Wilson Worsdell's tenure after he succeeded his elder brother. The 0-4-4 wheel arrangement was preferred by Wilson with his 'G5' and 'G6' designs and consequently all F8s were withdrawn by 1938.
