328 1929-09-18 York

Ex-North Eastern Railway T.W.Worsdell 'G' (LNER 'D23') class 4-4-0 No. 328. Built at Darlington in April 1888 as NER No. 328, rebuilt from 2-4-0 to 4-4-0 in August 1904 and withdrawn in October 1931.

Even though 328 appears to be in LNER unlined black livery, this September 1929 portrait shows a very clean and smartly turned-out locomotive. Adverts for Bovril and the delights of the Yorkshire coast look down on the scene at the north end of York Station.
