North Eastern Railway. T.W.Worsdell 'I' class 4-2-2 No. 1330. Built at Gateshead in December 1888 as a 2-cyl. compound, converted from compound to simple working in August 1900 and withdrawn in January 1921.
Photographs of T.W. Worsdell's 'I' class 4-2-2 'Singles' are scarce. This fine portrait was taken at Clifton in York in the early 1900s. The image was 'rescued' from a very badly damaged negative so please make allowances!
