NER 1619 1924 Hull Botanic Gardens MPD

Ex-North Eastern Railway Worsdell '3CC' (LNER 'D19') class 3-cyl. compound 4-4-0 No. 1619. Built at Gateshead in May 1893 as an 'M' class 2-cyl. compound, rebuilt as class '3CC' in Aug. 1898 and withdrawn in Oct. 1930. This is a unique locomotive in that it was the only Worsdell 4-4-0 never to be superheated. The locomotive is still in its full NER livery but the adjacent tank has LNER markings. Its regular work was Hull to Bridlington at the time.
