NER 1475 1910s Neville Hill MPD
North Eastern Railway Tennant '1463' class 2-4-0 No. 1475. Built at Gateshead in June 1885 and withdrawn in January 1928 as LNER No. 1475. Photographs at the Leeds Neville Hill shed of the North Eastern Railway are characterised by its distinctive water tower and the iron railings that separate the railway from East End Park. 1475 sits in the afternoon sun circa 1910. Henry Tennant's committee designed this fine Victorian locomotive whilst the NER was in the process of choosing it's next CME after Alexander McDonnell's hasty resignation. One of the twenty built, No. 1463 is preserved at the National Railway Museum.
