3861 1951-03-24 Stourbridge Junction

An Up freight rattling its way through Stourbridge Junction station on 24th march 1951. The view is northward, towards Birmingham and Wolverhampton and the three wagons are interesting being ex Private Owners ‘Ocean’ of S Wales and ‘Rothervale’ of South Yorkshire flanking a Ministry of Supply steel 16T mineral painted in red oxide livery. The southbound Class F freight is headed by 2-8-0 No. 3861 built in November 1942 and at the time allocated to 84C Banbury. It would move to Hereford in December 1952 so perhaps it is on a mission to discover its new stamping grounds! After several allocation in the Midlands and Borders it would end its days in South Wales being withdrawn off Ebbw Junction in July 1965.
