A Swidon freight loco was a strange choice for ECS working. Peter Kerslake adds Certainly an unusual sighting at Paddington of a 2-8-0 freight engine rostered on an empty stock duty, with the correct single lamp in position, presumably either to cross over to the Paddington parcel depot just out from the station's arrival platforms or to run down to the stock sidings at Old Oak Common, a mile or so further down.
