A later pattern 2-8-0 , ‘2884’ No.3809, slogging up the 1 in 97 towards Hill Top Tunnel with an Up freight in the late 1950s. It was allocated to Cardiff Canton until the end of 1960. The first wagon in the train is an ex-GWR ‘Mica’ van which is painted white underneath the grime.
