A familiar sight at this location for over a decade David J Hayes says A fine reminder of what was once, back then, an everyday scene in and around the capital, even on Sundays. These milk tanks are probably empty and may well have originated from Ilford. Such workings (loads and empties) used to be focussed on Kensington Olympia, but by the mid-1970s were mainly being worked to and from Acton Yard. Further to what I have already mentioned and although based on WTT information possibly pre-dating this image, the working seen here may well be 6V11, the 13:37 SSuX milk empties from Ilford to Acton Yard (arr. 15:15), which is thought to have called at Channelsea Sidings to attach additional milk empties as it wasn't booked through Victoria Park Junction until 2:35pm. 6V11 also ran on Saturdays and Sundays but started from Channelsea Sidings on those days, departing at 15:30 SO and at 15:25 SuO (arr. Acton Yard 16:15 and 16:09 respectively).
