LNER L1 2-6-4T No 67781 on a Saturday Manchester London Road-Macclesfield train enters Romiley station. The junction here was interesting, the pair of tracks diverging on the left lead to Stockport Tiviot Dale, the next pair to Woodley then Guide Bridge, whilst those continuing straight ahead are the GCR & MR joint lines to Manchester London Road, this train having come via Guide Bridge. It will diverge on the NSR & GCR joint lines to Macclesfield just after Romiley station. The L1 was at Gorton from June 1957 until March 1960 but carries the later 9G shed code which dates it after April 1958 but before the autumn of 1959.
