A Stratford based Class 116 at Braintree in September 1977. These Derby 3-car suburban set had cramped seating and slam-type doors to each bay, and no gangways. This example has plated over route indicator boxes. Braintree was the terminus of the truncated branch line from Witham to Bishops Stortford.br/ The photograph was taken just before the branch was electrified.
