GWR Grange 4-6-0 No 6817 Gwenddwr Grange with the 12.00 Paddington-Plymouth leaving Taunton on 5 August 1961.

Peter Kerslake says " Old Oak's shedmaster must have been running short of four cylinder engines this day if he has been obliged to put 6817 on this extremely heavily loaded working to Plymouth although by the look of the smokebox and its door it may be fresh from overhaul so hopefully may be in good order, but it will certainly need a helping hand westwards over the banks from Newton Abbot!"
