GWR Grange 4-6-0 No 6813 Eastbury Grange and King 4-6-0 No 6006 King George I climb Hemerdon bank with an up express on 27th July 1957.

Peter Kerslake says "The summit of Hemerdon is in view now for the crews as this is the final stretch of the 1 in 42 two climb from Plympton. A King was permitted to take ten coaches without a pilot engine over the South Devon banks but there are more in this view so 6813 will assist as far as Newton Abbot."
